Our Philosophy
We didn't begin by building.
We began by pausing.
In a world that offers us something new to see, hear, make, consume, and forget every single day, we sometimes chose to stop.
We looked. We listened. We asked.
And we understood that some questions matter too much to walk past. So we paused.
For us, pausing was never about standing still out of inaction. It is the distance between encountering the world and creating something in response to it — the moment before a person reaches out to build, when they first ask themselves: why?
The answer to each question became the first brick of what would later become our city.
Sometimes the answer took the shape of an instrument, so sound and music could remain in time.
Sometimes it settled into the threads of a carpet, so pattern, geography, and memory could travel from one place to another.
Sometimes it became a book, so a thought could pass from one generation to the next.
Sometimes it became a voice, a medium, a stage, an education — or found its own way in the quiet of research.
None of these are separate activities to us. Each is an answer to a question.
Bricks that slowly came to rest beside one another. Houses took shape. Paths were drawn between the houses. Squares appeared.
And we realized we were building a city.
The City of Zurvan
We named this city Zurvan — a city where time and place are not merely the backdrop of life, but part of life itself.
Time and place, in your hands.
To us, this is not just a slogan. It is a reminder that although a person lives within time and place, they can leave their mark on both — build something, preserve something, tell the story of something, and leave something behind for the future.
Zurvan is a city with two hands.
One hand belongs to the world of matter — to industry, trade, making, and creating things that can be touched.
The other belongs to the world of meaning — to culture, art, music, books, media, education, research, and the experiences that give life its meaning.
One hand builds. The other gives meaning. And the human being stands between the two, in the square.
Pausing in the Square
We don't believe a person exists only to produce. Just as we don't believe meaning can survive without life and experience.
That is why, between these two hands, we left room for presence and pause.
Room for a person to step back, even for a moment, from the world's rush, and ask again: What am I building? Why am I building it? What am I preserving? And what am I leaving for the future?
Perhaps one of our deepest answers took shape right here: a genealogy of meaning.
A pause within meaning itself — an attempt to understand where what matters to us today came from, how it took shape, and how it reached us across time.
Alchemy
We are not afraid of death. We are afraid of dying unnamed, of being forgotten.
Not because we want our name carved onto everything, but because of a question we fear: if we leave this world one day, will anything of what we understood, loved, and built have the strength to remain?
So we set out in search of the elixir of life. We became alchemists.
We put our hands to the earth and tried to make from it something time could not easily erase.
Sometimes the earth became an instrument. Sometimes a carpet. Sometimes a book. Sometimes a voice. Sometimes an image. Sometimes a thought. And sometimes a city that held all of these within it.
Zurvan is our gold. But to us, gold is not wealth.
Gold is something born from experience, questioning, love, knowledge, and creation — something that can be entrusted to time.
Two Hands, One City
In this city, the activities don't simply sit beside one another for convenience. Each came from somewhere. Each is an answer to a pause.
Part of this city exists within Bavan Zurvan Industrial Trading Group, present in the world of industry and trade, of making and producing.
Another part exists within Mahvash Cultural and Arts Institute, present in the world of culture and art, of storytelling, education, media, and creation.
And within these two, brands and institutions have taken shape, each a house within this city — with its own identity and path, but a shared root.
We do not make them the same. Just as a home, a workshop, a library, a stage, and a square are not the same. But all of them can live within one city.
For What Comes After Us
And perhaps the most important reason for building this city is not us at all.
Perhaps a city only reaches its true meaning once it no longer belongs solely to those who built it.
We hope that one day, someone we do not know will enter this city. That they will stand in one of its squares. Pause. That a question will form in their mind. And that perhaps, in one of the city's houses, they will find an answer. Or better still — build their own.
If that day comes, the city's first bricks will no longer belong to us. The city will have begun a life of its own.
We did not build this city so that we could remain. We built it so that after us, there would be a place for someone else to remain, to question, to build, and to make meaning.
Perhaps that is what immortality means. Not that a person remains — but that what they leave behind can go on living another life.
This city is the result of our pauses. And every brick of it is an answer we once found, standing before the world.
Zurvan is our gold.
